I’m finally releasing a version of OpenNetAdmin. Its still very much a work in progress but it should still perform much better than a spreadsheet! dcm.pl is the command line interface tool to the core modules of ONA. It is intended to provide a batch interface for doing adds, modifies, deletes etc. Further detail and examples will be coming. Also there are some example import scripts in the works as well that can parse the following:

Ok, so my last news item about an update coming soon did not take into account that apparently summer time is a much more busy time in my life. I am still making progress however and have been making some deep level updates that are taking longer than I had expected. There are some new developments with PTR records I had to deal with.

Once you have installed the application, simply point your browser to or appropriate link. You will be presented with the ONA “desktop” which should look something like this: Desktop bar At the top of the desktop you will see the main bar. This is similar to task bars of many OSes. This is the form that allows you to add DNS records of various types as well as edit existing records. A An “A” record is the most common type of record. It is the association of a name to an IP address. Each host you create using the Edit Host form will automatically create an A record and a PTR record.
